Last Chance Bar & Package
About This Spot
Last Chance Bar & Package stands as a quiet waypoint along the South Dixie Highway, where the pace slows just enough to settle into a genuine slice of Homestead’s local rhythm. Walking in, you sense the bar’s deep roots—an honest, lived-in charm that carries a history told not through polished trendiness, but through the familiar faces and stories exchanged over frosty cervezas or a thoughtfully crafted Bloody Mary. It’s a place where the worn wood of the bar invites you to linger, whether you’re fresh off the highway or weaving the long Florida Keys journey into your day.
The atmosphere is quietly welcoming, a bit dim but thoughtfully maintained with an air of no-nonsense comfort. It’s the kind of spot where locals and travelers alike find common ground—coming together to shoot pool, catch the game, or simply connect over food that doesn’t try to impress, but satisfies with straightforward warmth. The kitchen is a small stage for classic flavors like crispy chicken wings and fresh crab, dishes that pair naturally with the cold Mango Cart or a smooth Altas de Pollo.
What makes this place more than just a stop, though, is the sense of personal history that fills the space. You might hear about the bar’s origins through the stories shared by the owner or run into familiar faces who have been part of the scene for years. There’s a quiet respect here for the people who built and shaped the spot, making it feel less like a business and more like an ongoing gathering of friends. This is reflected in how everyone—from servers to the chef—carries a piece of the bar’s spirit, creating moments that are as much about connection as they are about the food and drink.
Last Chance isn’t about bright lights or pretension. Instead, it invites you into a slower, richer experience, one where the local flavor extends beyond what’s on the menu and into genuine human moments—whether you’re passing through or making it your evening refuge. If you find yourself headed toward the Keys or exploring Homestead’s edges, this unassuming bar offers a welcoming pause, a place to feel at home for a moment or two amidst the journey.

Great bar. Been stopping in since 2005! Historic! Linda is wonderful and her Dad, Skeeter, was a good man The bar was his dream. RIP Skeeter

Place is awesome the cook in that bar gets involved in peoples personal relationships so that makes a person not wanna come back or even recommend them to a spot like that. It's not last chance fault. It's just the person who works the kitchen... sometimes it's just best to mind ur own business

This place is a regular stop for my motorcycle club when we go to the Keys. No food and the service could use work , but the atmosphere is kitchen and the people are always fantastic.

Nice little stop on way to Keys, or if hanging out in Homestead. A little dark, but decent bar atmosphere. Nice no smoking bar, so you wont smell like ash tray when you leave. Good place to catch a game or shoot pool. Did not eat here, as we already had ate. We met Ray the chef, he came out and introduced himself, he let us know about some specials that were not on the menu, very nice & welcoming gentlmen. I will definitley stop back & check out his ribs & wings. Cool spot!

My husband and I stopped in the bar around noon and got the chance to meet the owner! Before we even knew she was the owner she told us some knowledgeable history about Homestead and the keys. We got to try some ol Smokey mountain drinks, and brought a few bottles and shirts! If you going to the keys stop in and get you something cause this is the spot!

We chose to spend New Year's Eve close to where we were camped and chatGPT had recommended this little dive bar. Everyone in this bar was super friendly happy to be there and we felt completely safe and welcomed. As it is a dive bar, the drinks are very reasonably priced but there is nothing top shelf. The signage and decor on the walls are entertaining as much as the people. Overall this was a much better experience than having to dress up and drive into the City and then figure out how we're getting home. If you care more about feeling welcome and having a great time chatting with new friends than looking pretty and being ignored, this is the place to be.

Live this place. The people were so welcoming to outsiders. Patrons and staff was amazing. Definitely on my list to visit again.

Im a fan of dive bars, this place hit the mark. They have drinks at a fair price, a few pool tables, touchtunes, and characters from all walks. Most nights, if not always, there is a food truck outside.
